The moon on the thirteenth night – The Moon of Two Nights –

らくがき

October 15th corresponds to the 13th day of the 9th month in the old lunar calendar, and tonight is the Thirteenth Night.
The full moon of September (15th day of the 8th lunar month) and the moon of October (13th day of the 9th lunar month) are considered two parts of a whole.
Since this moon is closer to late autumn, it is also called the ‘Moon of Two Nights.’
The illustration shows a budgerigar who unexpectedly found the ‘Moon of Two Nights.’
I created a solo piano piece with a melancholic mood to reflect the waning moon.
Please have a listen if you’d like. 🌔

The waning moon, with its somewhat lonely light, quietly illuminates the surroundings.
