September 22 was the Autumn Equinox.
It is said that on this special day, when the sun rises from the true east and sets in the true west, the present world in the east and the afterlife in the west are believed to be the closest they get to each other during the year.
The illustration features a budgerigar picking up fallen leaves, feeling a bit melancholic.
I created a melancholic Japanese-style piece with piano and shakuhachi.
