May 16th is said to be Travel Day, inspired by Oku no Hosomichi (The Narrow Road to the Deep North).
The illustration features cockatiels on a journey, wearing straw hats (sando-gasa) that don’t quite fit.
“Whoa…! This must be the famous ‘Narrow Narrow Road’! Let’s have our lunch once we get through here! 💨”

I created the music using ryuteki (a traditional Japanese flute) and piano to evoke the sound of waterfalls.
